Frequently Asked Questions
How does the age calculator work?
The age calculator computes the difference between your date of birth and the current date (or any specified date). It accounts for varying month lengths and leap years to give an exact age in years, months, and days.
Can I calculate my age on a future date?
Yes, use the optional "Age on Date" field to calculate how old you will be on any future date, such as a birthday, retirement date, or milestone event.
How are leap years handled?
The calculator correctly accounts for leap years (years divisible by 4, except centuries not divisible by 400). February 29 birthdays are handled accurately.
How do I calculate the difference between two ages?
Calculate each person's age separately, then find the difference. Or simply enter the older person's birth date with the younger person's birth date as the target date.
Why does my age in months not equal years times 12?
Because months have different lengths (28-31 days). The calculator uses actual calendar months for precision, which can cause small differences from simple multiplication.
